Maier's
1966 Mustang Coupe
Since the Good Guys Car Show organization has been holding auto cross events, Maier Racing has competed in three and took the victory in all three. Two of which were in Northern California and Maier ended up wining the vendor challenge in both and finishing with the top time overall in the second auto cross event. Recently Maier Racing ventured to Del Mar in Southern California. To get the car ready Maier put a set of 18x10” rims for a wider tire to obtain better grip. Maier also redesigned the front upper control arms, revalved the front Bilstein Shocks, tested several styles of differentials and ended up with the old faithful Detroit Locker, changed springs and swaybar until bolts began to fall out, and not to mention competed locally in auto cross events. “We wanted to see how our product held up against the big names in the industry. There were a lot of great shops that showed up, Detroit Speed, Hotchkis, and Art Morrison to name a few. To be honest I was a little intimidated when I saw all the great cars, but we had a lot of great support ourselves, Bridgestone Potenza RE11 Tires, Bilstein Shocks by RCD, and of coarse our Maier Racing Suspension system,” said Mike. When Maier Racing competed in the auto cross event the results were outstanding. Maier Racing won with the fastest time overall of 29.2 seconds beating top GM cars and other big name competitors while running on a complete Maier Racing custom suspension kit.
